Amanda Knox reconvicted in slander case

A court in Florence has reconvicted Amanda Knox for slander in relation to the murder of her British roommate in 2007.

Ms Knox was cleared of killing Meredith Kercher in 2015, in a case that attracted widespread global media attention, but she still has a conviction for slander for blaming the murder on local bar owner – Patrick Lumumba – during police interrogation.

Ms Knox had been sentenced to three years, but she will not go to jail as she has already spent four years behind bars.

She told the court that police coerced her into implicating Mr Lumumba.
