Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle which was found crashed and abandoned in East Sussex.
Emergency services discovered the badly damaged vehicle in Hailsham Road, Polegate, just before 21:00 BST on Friday.
It was found in dense bushes and undergrowth near the Cophall Wood Recycling Centre, police said.
Ch Insp Dave Groombridge said the driver could be seriously injured.
“This is being treated as a high risk missing person investigation,” he said.
“We are searching the area and appealing for anyone who may have seen the vehicle leave the road and crash.”
A search was made of the vehicle and in the immediate area but nobody was found, police said.
The road is currently closed in both directions on the A22, from the Cophall roundabout to the Arlington Eagles roundabout, while the investigation continues.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
