England: Euro 2024 final defeat by Spain watched by peak of 19.3 million across BBC

Earlier on Sunday, the Wimbledon men’s singles final between Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic of Serbia peaked at 7.5 million on BBC One.

The match, won in straight sets by Alcaraz, was also streamed live 3.3 million times on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport.

Saturday’s women’s final, where Barbora Krejcikova beat Jasmine Paolini, had a TV peak of 4.1 million and was streamed 1.9 million times – an increase from last year’s women’s final.

“These huge figures demonstrate that the BBC is the place audiences turn to when it comes to the big moments,” said Alex Kay-Jelski, director of BBC Sport.

“We offer something unique across multiple BBC Sport platforms and it’s a privilege to bring these incredible sporting moments to fans, even if the result doesn’t always go the way you want.

“All roads now lead to Paris for the second half of the BBC’s summer of sport.”

The Olympics start on 26 July, with the Paralympics following from 28 August.
