The London Fire Brigade is working to extinguish the fire at flats on Rosenthal Road

A fire has broken out at a high-rise block of flats in south-east London.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the flats on Rosenthal Road in Catford at about 12:51 BST on Wednesday.

About 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines are at the scene, it said.

“Please avoid the area whilst firefighters work to extinguish the fire,” the LFB said on X.

The brigade said it had received nearly 50 reports of a fire, adding that two flats on the ninth and 10th floors were “currently alight”.

Fire crews from Forest Hill, Greenwich, Deptford, Lee Green and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

Rushey Green is closed between Rosenthal Road and Honley Road, added the LFB.
