Chemical plant fire causes huge smoke plumes in Georgia

A fire broke out at the BioLab facility in Conyers, Georgia, causing a reaction that sent huge smoke plumes billowing across the city that were seen for miles around.

Officials in the southern US state said the fire had been contained, but the smoke would still be visible for days and they encouraged nearby residents to evacuate.

Roads have alsoclosed and air quality tests are being conducted, they added.
